Abstract

The presence of the child in the family is closely related to acting of spouses - parents who give and receive themselves to each other. The child has the right to live among people who accept him/her absolutely, regardless his/her health characteristics or the time when s/he appears to the world. Therefore, from the moment of conception the child should be included in the family by the nearests. At no stage of his/her life does the child belong to anyone - no one has the right to decide about his/her life. The people bearing most of the responsibility for the child’s life and development are the parents, whose duty it is to create a safe family atmosphere, enhancing the development of all members of the community. In John Paul II’s teaching, there is a belief in decisive significance of the bonds between spouses - parents for raising a child. Raising a child in the family takes place mainly through daily building of the community based on mutual service.
