Historia z komiksem! - o edukacyjnych walorach komiksu jako medium

Abstract

The subject of the article is the examination of the historical narrations about Gliwice which are formed as cartoons and rethinking their educational potential in the anthropological context – creating a bond with a place of residence. The basis of the reflections is the growing contemporary popularity of comic strips which are perceived as a kind of art as well as a didactic method. In this case, cartoons used to be abused for the purposes of the self-promotion of local subjects attempting to create specific image of the place which is attractive in terms of tourism or the economy. However, cartoons can be used as method of activating historical interest which is able to create more serious relations to the place. The aim of using historical cartoons in educational processes is not only to derive knowledge from them but, primarily, to arouse an interest in the past of the place among young people, (in this case a place whose history is complicated as a result of its borderland location and can be characterized as multicultural).
