Abstrakt: The article analyzes phenomena associated with the process of photographic recording, in the moment between the opening and the closing of the shutter. On the basis of an authorial cycle, the article considers the advantages of creating the photographic picture in the context of autocreation, performativity and the developed conventions of reception. The discussed works have been created using an original artistic method, referred to in the text as “continuous photography.” This method conjoins the medium of photography and film, and its most important feature is the recording of a photographical nature, yet lacking one of the more important characteristics of photography — the stopping point. Artistic works created with the use of this method are developed on the basis of photographic stylistic devices; they are static, or at least passive, while at the same time capturing the ongoing process unfolding in front of the lens. They are liminally photographic, balancing on the brink of the deciding moment of the recording, while never crossing that boundary.
