Abstrakt: | The structure projects of actions of the PhD graduates at the Faculty of Social
Sciences and Humanities, first of all, determine the content of their worlds and
the sphere of influence: the “university” is the surrounding world (Umwelt),
creating an important level of relevance in the decision making process. It is
a sphere of influence that is directly within the scope of their experience, although
the reflexive relation, i.e. the influence of students/further doctoral
students on the university system, is very limited, according to young people.
Secondly, the models of actions consist of motives related to the choice of
studies and then to the future activities of graduates of doctoral studies at the
Faculty of Social Sciences. They focus on the in-order-to-motive – in order to
“fulfil oneself”– and the because-motive: because “It was easy for me to learn”
and “I had scientists in my family”. The supervisors of PhD students became
significant others in the course of studies. The world of dreams of the graduates
is a teaching and scientific work at the university. The graduates do not
regret the decision to undertake doctoral studies even in the cases when they
give up writing their PhD theses.
Thirdly, attention should be paid to the assessment criteria, i.e. the positive and
negative weight of the acting individuals. Among the respondents, family life
and marriage are treated as positive values. They would like to participate in
research projects of supervisors and promoters. They believe that the current
model of doctoral studies is based on “school-like” assimilation. |
