Abstrakt: The main goal of the work is a comparative description and explanation of the phenomenon of professionalization of the profession from the perspective of the experiences of business trainers and coaches. Referring to the theoretical literature on the factors and criteria of professionalization and the functions of the professions of social trust, there were discussed works of Florian Zaniecki, Peter Berger, Thomas Luckmann, Erving Goffman, Roland Meighan, Pierre Bourdieu, Peter Drucker, Donald Kirkpatrick, Urban Pauli, Lidia Czarkowska, Paweł Smółka, Małgorzata Sidor - Rządkowska and Alicja Winnicka - Wejs. In her research, the author of the work posed the question of what criteria determine whether a given activity can be considered a profession and whether the fulfillment of these criteria takes place in the case of activities that have been developing in recent years: business training and coaching. The analyzes presented in the paper concern both the Polish and Ukrainian development services market. In order to better understand the research problem defined above, the author of the dissertation decided to carry out a sequential, two-phase study using the mixed methodology: quantitative and qualitative research. In carrying out the research, in the qualitative research she used a partially structured in-depth interview, and in the quantitative procedure - a questionnaire. The research sample consisted of market experts, representatives of associating institutions, business trainers and coaches, owners and employees of Polish and Ukrainian companies operating on the development services market. The analysis of the results showed what, in the opinion of the respondents and the surveyed experts from the market, is professionalism in the performance of a specific profession, thus including business trainers and coaches in the elite group of professionals "deserving" to be called a profession. Detailed analyzes of the empirical material pointed the importance of a number of dilemmas in the discussion on the ethics of training and coaching. The responses of the respondents showed how strongly the so-called black PR built around coaching is felt and how the professionalism of a business coach "behind the scenes" of practices that is subject to the pressure of market opportunities and organizational difficulties is shaped. The research carried out by the author allowed to capture the relationship between access to EU funds and significant, both positive and negative changes in the development services market. On this base there were showed several statistically significant differences between the Polish and Ukrainian training and coaching markets. The theoretical and research work put into the constructing of this dissertation also brought a lot of added values, for example, the development of numerous recommendations and practical implications, they are model tools which can be used in the everyday practice of coaches and business trainers. There was also made a list of the competences verifying experiences of specialists both in Poland and Ukraine. The quantitative and qualitative research in the dissertation was also focused on collecting important ideas supporting Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the area of development services, as well as on developing catalog of values and ethical principles important in the daily practice of a business trainer and coach. The research carried out by the author, as well as the analyzes of empirical material, provided an answer to the question of what direction the development services markets in Poland and Ukraine are heading in, and what will be the future of training and coaching services in these countries.
