| Abstrakt: | The aim of this article is to critically evaluate a book on the life and career of Margarete Bieber (1879–1978), eminent historian and classical archaeologist. The book contains numismatic essays by some modern authors. The main section of the text consists of remarks on the Roman coin iconography, especially imperial coinage of the second and third centuries, and the relation between sculpture and coins. It focuses on issues of methodology and the research value of numismatic sources. |
