dc.description.abstract | On the one hand, an issue of construction and transmission of knowledge
about own past, and the other hand, an issue of resolving disputes concerning with the
memory of the past are the challenges faced by the society based on knowledge. The
contemporary school is an institution which plays one of the most important roles in this
process. The authors’ discussions focus on Polish‑Czech
dispute about the memory of the
past. They are interested in learners’ opinions from Český Těšín. The authors analyze
their answers to the questions concerning the memory of the past in this text. The answers
are provided by young Poles and Czechs learning in the high schools in the area of
Český Těšín. The authors undertake the dilemma referring to the memory of the history
as the essential element of humanistic education in schools from Zaolzie region. Issues
