The main issue raised in this article is the problems of elderly persons from
Upper Silesia. The author presents them in the context of the meaning of life of seniors
in the knowledge‑based
society. Then, she analyses and evaluates it in the light of the
output of gerontology and psychology of an adult.
The results of her empirical research suggest the need for education of people in the
middle age to prepare them for old age.
Then, according to Grażyna Kempa, the next generation of seniors will be aware of
their own needs in live actively engaged in education.
