Abstract

Although the 21st century brings answers to many earlier-asked questions every day and the civilization progress makes us wake up each morning in a new reality, the exploration of a human mind remains still unfinished. A big life tempo makes us more and more often exposed to chronic stress. One of the strongest stress-provoking factors is stimulus connected with public performances. Stage fright and stress connected with it may foil the effects of the most perfect preparations. These affect almost all social groups: students, pedagogues, artists, musicians and politicians, and happen to be a motivating factor, however, remain a paralyzing phenomenon and impossible to control for a big group of people. Although the way of experiencing stage fright and stress is individual and changes with working years, it goes without saying that it directly influences the quality and effectiveness of the actions undertaken. The basis for writing the very article was the thematic literature, and interviews conducted with the artists of Teatr Rozrywki in Chorzów, as well as the author’s own experiences gained on the stage. It aims at bringing the reader theoretical and practical aspects of the very issue described in the context of an active artist.
