dc.description.abstract | Verbalisation of the religious experience is one of the most important aspect of
Gustaw Herling-Grudziński’s literary output. The author considers himself as a writer “of
what is in between” i.e. “a writer of another dimension”. Furthermore, this- the description of
“the space between two words, for example between dream and reality, death and life” — is
seen by him as specificity of his short stories. The author’s declaration, crowning his reflection
upon his own profession is particularly interesting: “Obviously, I didn’t make it up, but
it is my property in such a way that I discovered in myself this disposition”. Taking into consideration
this feature, the authoress proposes to consider the S(s)ecret in-scribed in Gustaw
Herling-Grudziński’s literary output in the key of eponymous — constructed particularly for
the sake of showing the uniqueness of the presented verbalization — category of “experience
of the »religious«”. An entity related to the experience of “what is »religious«, what relates to
religion, concerns religion and is connected with religion” is integrally bound to once presented
concept of the “language of the »religious«” as an object of theolinguistic research.
Gustaw Herling-Grudziński’s way of presenting religious issues is both characteristic
and universal. Their shape, as one can assume, is a direct result of Grudziński’s fate. The article
makes the hypothesis that Grudziński’s religious experiences — in stubbornness, revolt,
continuous fight: around truth and concentrated on truth — could constitute, even a rudiment,
of an experience, which theologists call “the experience of faith”. | pl_PL |
