For a long time theology has been reflecting on the problem of capability to express the truth about God. It knows also, connected with the previous one, the linguistic problem of ability to formulate such a positive statement about God which does not appropriate the mystery, but expresses its knowledge at the same time. Moreover, theology should avoid the arising juxtaposition of knowledge and mystery. The author of this article presents this problem of the closeness of knowledge (and its linguistic representation) and mystery in the field of theological doctrine of salvation. He indicates specific areas of their coexistence (history of Jesus — his identity; particular expression of the truth about salvation — mysterious universality of salvation; “revealed” and “mysterious” identity of human being). The article shows that Christian soteriology owes a lot to the fact of the coexistence of mystery and knowledge. An effect of this coexistence is the pluralistic structure of soteriology. Whereas its content continuously refers to “always greater” mystery of God and human being, at the same time preserving the binding character of the doctrine of faith.pl_PL
