Abstract: | Zygmunt Lis is one of main designers of the didactic programme for the field of studies Art
Education in the former Branch of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn. Since the birth of this
study field, he also managed its development, acting as: the Head of the Section, Head of the
Chair, vice-Head of the Institute and vice-Dean for research and art. Since the very beginning,
Zygmunt Lis aimed at working out such a concept of education which would combine both artistic
and intellectual education so that a teacher, manager or instructor of art could acquire hermeneutic
skills and could understand and interpret works of art against the background of cultural
phenomena. The curriculum concept of the Cieszyn school is based on the application of the
creative process in pedagogical and artistic didactics. Therefore, this concept has become an integral
part of the programme of New Education, which also emphasizes free expression. Educating
students based on creative process and free expression has become a significant methodological
guideline in their future pedagogical work in schools.
Professor Lis also supervised his own section of drawing in the Chair of Art Education. The
programme assumptions were implemented into the curriculum of this section. Particular classes
helped to enhance students’ perceptive skills through complete application of the sensual experiences
available to man. |
