dc.description.abstract | The book consists of two complementary parts. The first one covers three main
chapters. Chapter one Selected child and youth problem behaviours characterizes addictions,
aggression in social relations, as well as risky sexual behaviours to be observed
among the population of children and teenagers. A special emphasis was put on behaviours
typical of the period of childhood and adolescence. The risk and prevention factors,
as well as the etiology of disorders, diagnostic criteria, manifestations and symptoms
of risky behaviours were described. Chapter two A professional prevention of child
and youth risky behaviours deals with the issues connected with different ways of defining
the notion of social prevention, described types and levels of preventive influences,
and elaborates on a profile and methodological skills of a teacher conducting prevention
and education classes. The next chapter Types of prevention programmes. Principles of
programme design refers to the efficiency of already-made preventive actions, and characterizes
particular stages of planning influences within the scope of prevention. It also
includes a description of the strategies of preventive actions in the areas connected with
using psychoactive substances, presenting aggressive and violent behaviours, as well
as risky sexual behaviours. Besides, it encompasses a list of selected prevention programmes
available for implementation in the school work.
A practical part of the book contains suggestions of workshop classes included in
five thematic series: an integrative, a „what I am” one, a series concerning healthy and
psychosocial consequences of risky behaviours, a series treating about psychological
skills, and a series referring to social skills. A description of particular exercises covers
aims, aids and course of action. The practical part was conceived to supplement a theoretical
section presented in the work, and constitute support in a practical implementation
