Motywy wyboru studiów geograficznych i geologicznych na Wydziale Nauk o Ziemi Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w świetle badań ankietowych

Abstract

The paper contains results of questionnaire exami-nations carried out in the academic year 2008/2009 among stationary students of geography and geology at the Faculty of Earth Sciences of University of Silesia (FES US) in Sosnowiec. Their aim was the attempt to answer the questions concer-ning the motivation of study undertaking among the present students of the first year of the first and second degree studies on geography and geology. This study refers to the earlier investigations carried out in other geographical centres. Results of in-vestigation allow noticing that almost the half of respondents stated, that at the decision making on studying in Sosnowiec, they were influenced by arguments of nearness of didactic centre from residential place. Among the motives of study underta-king the inquired students have also mentioned among others interests (especially in journeys), students’ life, interesting lec-tures, easy recruitment and among the future geographers – the possibility to work as teacher at school after study finishing.
