Zmiany demograficzne i funkcjonalne małych miast górniczych (na przykładzie Bierunia i Lędzin)

Abstract

The article presents demographic and functional changes of the towns of Bierun and Ledziny, situated in the vicinity of the Katowice conurbation, in the central part of the Ślaskie Voivodship. These are small towns, with the domination of mining functions, which have shaped the economy of these towns to a large extent. Demographic processes in the towns have been analyzed, i.e., changes in populations and their causes, migration balance, actual growth, and the age structure of their inhabitants. Functional changes have been analyzed on the basis of the number of people working in the town and in mining, according to sectors and sections of economy. The summary contains a comparison of small mining towns in the Śląskie Voivodship.
