Abstract

The article focuses on problems of preserving the legacy of the industrial revolution in Europe. The first part characterizes a variety of industrial facilities and criteria for protection and revitalization. An important part of the working culture are patronage housing estates. Many of them became objects of cultural heritage. In the article the author describes their causes and history of development and the importance of their development for contemporary European society. In the second part of this article a review is included of the most famous patronage housing estate, distinguished by their architecture, time established, origin, importance for the development of the working class in Europe.
