The article, referring to the thesis expressing a fundamental criterion of experiencing art as
up-dated existence in the case of a receiver and a specific context, deals with the issue of the
function of knowledge on plastic arts in music education, within the scope of qualifications and
skills the graduates of artistic education within music art represent. The work was looked at from
he perspective of the educational structure of the university as a practical-discursive space of
a dialogue on values, qualifications and skills defined in a “graduate profile” in educational standards
for the faculty of artistic education within music art and artistic practice of the modern art,
generating numerous dilemmas and doubts also in the educational areas and artistic didactics.
The arguments presented here emphasise the necessity of experiencing art and knowledge on
plastic arts in the processes of music education. The knowledge on art and artistic culture, supported
by a reflective and critical evaluation of the phenomena of the modern artistic reality, has
an influence on a general preparation of the music education students to actively and effectively
participate in various forms of cultural life, a direct contact with a plastic work included.
