Postawa Jana Kustosa (przywódcy Związku Obrony Górnoślązaków) wobec Kościoła katolickiego

Abstract

The text is an attempt to show Jan Kustos’ attitude – the person who is regarded to be the leader of separatists in the area of interwar Silesian voivodship – towards the Catholic Church. The text presents a brief biography of Jan Kustos (1893–1932), also the synthetic list of mottos and views proclaimed by him and concerning the role and meaning of the Catholic Church as well as activity of Catholic clergy has been made. The mottos and views are present in public performances and in press publications in the magazine “The voice of Upper Silesia” which was published by Jan Kustos. An attempt to show the evolution of an attitude towards the Church and its preaching between 1922 and 1923 (in the first decade of existence in the structure of the reborn state of Polish Silesian voivodship) has also been made; the attitude which from full acceptacion turned into noticeable criticism of a part of clergy (which he accused of political commitment).
