Miasto w "Zeszytach Literackich"

Abstract

The article is an attempt at discussing three issues of ‘Zeszyty Literackie’. These issues are devoted to the city, artistic creation in the urban space in literary and paraliterary texts, describing the areas inscribed in the cultural map of ‘magical places’. Texts included in the three issues of the quarterly bear the same title - Portraits of Cities and are devoted to Prague (no. 52), Venice (no. 39), and Petersburg (no. 83). A relation of the real space and its literary image appearing in literary and paraliterary works on the ground of cultural expertise (proxemic relations as the source of knowledge about culture, the role of symbolism in the creation of portrayal of individual urban spaces), and language expertise (the role of reference metaphors and the way of translation of architectural code into language code), is discussed in the article.
