Abstrakt: | The article analyzes the cult of St. Fortunate in the environment of Benedictines of Lvov. The
relics of the martyr were given to Magdalena Dorota Danilowiczowna by papal legate Franciszek
Martelly in 1676, and service was propagated by her successor - Anna Gertruda Kurdwanowska. The cult of the Saint points at the character and specificity of the mental culture of the nuns of
Lvov, being a part of the monastic culture, characteristic for this environment, related to the
spirituality of the era. Different forms of propagation of the service - appropriate setting of the
ceremony, working out and publication of a special office, litany, hymn, history of the relic, and
the advantage of this subject in personal meditations - confirmed the care for liturgy associated
with local cult in this environment. This service integrated Old Polish society, enabling
establishment, circulation, and individual and collective reception of texts, related to the cult of
St. Fortunate, authenticating the participation of the contemplative convent in the cultural and
religious life of old Lvov. |
