Abstract: | Perfectionism as a personality trait is deÞ ned in the frame of unidimensional, bidimensional or multifaceted models. The dominating theoretical approaches not only concentrate on the dysfunctional, negative aspects of perfectionism rela- ted to the symptoms of psychopathology, but they also indicate the presence of a positive, adaptative dimansion of perfec- tionism. The aim of the article is to discuss and analyze theoretical concepts and the results of previous empirical research concerning both forms of perfectionism. Special a ention was focused on the analysis of the factors modifying the relation between perfectionism and symptoms of psychopathology. |
