Abstract

The article is an attempt to formulate the rules of classification of literary generic forms, in the case when the concept of limit (borderline) becomes a determinant. The author distinguishes the phenomenon of generic form limits and borderline genres. After the phenomenological analysis of the concepts of limit and borderline, the author indicates that the latter may be understood through the prism of four aspects: a) as an area located furthest from the centre, b) as an area of active interiorization, transfer and translocation, c) as an area around the border designated as the common territory, and d) as the areas around the border recognized as similar. In the further part of the article, the author tries to relate these conclusions to the deliberations concerning borderline aspect in the genological literary forms and he indicates the specific genological situations which may exemplify the selected differences with regard to the manipulations in the obligatory and facultative characteristics of the genre.
