Abstrakt: The “Secovlje Salina Na-ture Park” is located in the south-western part of the Slovenian coast. It covers the (present here since the Middle Ages) area of traditional sea salt production favored by climatic conditions. It is divided into two main parts: 1. Northern – Lera, where the production of sea salt is currently carried out by using of the medieval methods, 2. Southern – Fontanigge, where salt production was liquidated in the 1960s. "Sečovlje Salina" is an anthropogenic and natural creature, in which cultural, historical and natural values are interwoven. This area is dominated by the specific halophilic living environment of plants and animals. "Sečovlje Salina" is famous especially for the richness of birds – in 1993 it was inscribed in the Ramsar list. The entire "Salina Secovlje" area has been protected since 1989 in the form of a landscape park. All animated nature including its habitat is protected, as well as the traditional production of sea salt with its associated traditions, costumes and tools.
