dc.description.abstract | In this article we reconstruct life strategies which attend the Slamnig's novel Bolja polovica hrabrosti (The better half of courage). In the analysied book we contrast two models of novel, two types of book: the root book and the rhizome book as well as two worlds corresponded with them: the modern and the post-modern one, the world of Ana and Vojko from the Matilda's story and the world of Flaks and klapa. The Bauman's conception of four basic personality types existing in the post-modern society seems to be the pivotal one in understanding of the life strategies in the novel Bolja polovica hrabrosti. Namely this theorist and philosopher of post-modernity born in Poznań says that personality-type tipical for modern societies which is symbolized by the pilgrim figure (this is the world of Ana and Vojko) isn't topical any more. Its position in the post-modern world has been adopted by the four personality types which can appear in one's life and which infiltrate one another. These four types illustrate the figures of stroller, tourist, vagabond and gambler. In this interpretation of the novel Bolja polovica hrabrosti we prove that above mentioned types are as a matter of fact Flaks' life strategies. | pl_PL |
