Abstract: This paper shows changes in film images of journeys to Andalusia. The starting point are the stereotypes which influenced the image of Andalusia in the first decades of the cinema. During the Francoist dictatorship the region was perceived as a symbol of the whole Spain and the purpose of the journey was to contrast foreign and Andalusian culture. After the political transformation directors focused more on interregional travel. New narrative models and transformations of scenery emerged, which corresponded with realistic trends in contemporary cinema.
