Abstract

The author states herself questions: What are the prospects of humanistic oriented cultural education in a view of European key competences? What competences must a person who implements cultural education possess? She begins with introducing cultural education as a pedagogical action, it means that its essence is upbringing. Here — it is upbringing in culture and for culture. In upcoming fragments she covers competences for managing pedagogical actions, specificity of cultural and cultured education, and also contents connected with culture in the document ‘Key Competences. European Frames of Reference’. The text is finished with the analysis of competences in managing cultural education in the view of key competences. In conclusions, it is stated that cultural education should come out of the content of The Frames of References of Key Competences. Maybe it should make use of stated elements of key competences, but it derives from different thinking of education and its function. Then it should set aims wider, order the duties differently, be useful for humanistic education instead of not only pragmatic education of innovative employees and active, enterprising citizens.
