Un concepto, dos partes del cuerpo, muchas perspectivas… Análisis contrastivo español-polaco del campo semántico relacionado con las extremidades superiors del cuerpo humano

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present a concept of “upper extremities” from differentperspectives. Methodological basis serve as cognitive linguistics, especially semanticsbased the cognitive prototype theory and categorizing language that reflects a visionof the world. The paper focuses on the comparative analysis of Spanish words likeextremidad, mano, brazo, palma, dedo, etc. and their equivalents in Polish language.At the beginning of this work the author presents differences in the taxonomy of thoseconcepts based on monolingual dictionaries. The next step is to compare their culturalconnotations and to present the similarities and differences in the conceptualizationof those concepts included in the selected lenguages.
