Abstract: The Past and the Present of Polish Lutheranism in the Correspondence of Jan Wantuła (1877–1953) and his Son Andrzej (1905–1976), later on the Head of the Evan ()lical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Polish People’s Republic In this article the authoress has characterized representation and interpretation of the fates of the Polish Lutheran Church’s members, especially on the Cieszyn Silesia that are con 3ained in the letters of Jan and Andrzej Wantuła. The first was a regional historian, book lover and publicist, the latter was his son, and later on a bishop of the Church. It has been empha sized how in the views of those important figures for Lutheranism in Poland the history of this confession influenced their understanding of the then situation and also how it marked their identity.
