| Abstrakt: | The aim of the article is to analyze and characterize the causes of the Velvet Revolution in Armenia, which took place in 2018. The author’s efforts focused on presentations the multi‑faceted nature of the factors that contributed to the genesis of the political transformations in Armenia initiated after the revolution. The main determinants of Armenian citizens’ demonstrations were the weakness and corruption of political elites, monopolization of power structures by one party, inefficiency of foreign policy and the 2015 constitutional amendment. The emphasis was placed on the political conditions of the crisis in the country. Due to the subject matter of the article, the events of the second decade of the 21st century were considered a priority. |
