Abstrakt: The occurrence of methane zone located close to Miocene cover was presented. The dependence between methane occurrence in the investigated zone and the configuration of the roof of Carboniferous complex was analyzed, according to indicated dependence in the neighboring areas. The other issues discussed here are the possibly ways of methane collection in order to reduce the methane hazard in the area of the future coal mining. The possibly ways of methane collecting are the underground drainage system, because this way is applied in many working coal mines, methane drainage applying before the coal exploitation was particularly discussed, and also methane collecting using the GOB method, which is applied elsewhere, especially in the USA. The latter way mentioned above would be an inventive in Polish coal mines and it would need many additional studies. Taking and collecting of the coal mine methane from Bzie-Dębina 1 coal deposit will, from the one hand, reduce methane hazard in future coal mine and from the other, positively influence the energetic balance of Jastrzębie Coal Company mines.
