Młodzieńczy poemat dygresyjny Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza o panu Twardowskim

Abstract

The article pays attention to the connections of early works by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz with a Romantic tradition. The subject of interest is a digressive epic poem Młodość Pana Twardowskiego belonging to juvenilia. The analysis of the very work points to strong influences of Julisz Słowacki’s writing, especially the inspirations in Beniowski. At the beginning of his writing, Iwaszkiewicz seems to be a talented learner of a Romantic poet. Following patterns, he uses them in a way that is original for such a young author. A juvenile adventure is becoming a precious poetic lesson useful in later mature writing.
