Abstract

Family Allotment Gardens are a place of recreation for residents of large cities. At the peak of its popularity, in the late 80s of the twentieth century, Family Allotment Gardens covered from 2 to 5%of the area of large cities in Poland which reflects the significant role they played in their spatial structure. The paper has two purposes: to present the location of the Family Allotment Gardens in the urban space of the contemporary large city (on the example of Łódź) and to analyse the environment (neighbourhood) of allotment gardens as one of the most important parameters that describe the location of any object in the urban space.
