Światy możliwe w poezji Stanisława Barańczaka

Abstract

The presented book is focused on the poetry of Stanisław Barańczak, written after 1976, and contained in two volumes: Tryptyk z betonu, zmęczenia i śniegu and Widokówka z tego świata. Tire analysis of both books aims at a presentation of artistic parallels, resulting from homogeneous development line of tins poetry, not divided by emigration, but deeply rooted in personal expenence of life in People's Republic of Poland. In order to grasp the multilayered existential and metaphysical problematicality the author avails herself of a theory of “the possible worlds”, as presented in Umberto Eco's work Lector in Fabula, and Język, tekst, interpretacja by Paul Ricoeur. The first chapter of the thesis shows Tryptyk as a poetic representation of miracle play. It undertakes tire issues of poem-hieroglyph, phraseological concept, language metaphor, metaphor as a model of a world, and forms of literary communication. The second chapter deals with the issues of composition of Widokówka z tego świata, creation of a universum seen as a “correspondence space”, and semiotic decoding of Nature's signs by means of analogy, homology, and romantic theory of mirror images. The book ends with a comparison of “the possible worlds” creative visions in the works of the generation ‘68 leaders: Stanisław Barańczak, Adam Zagajewski, and Ryszard Krynicki.
