Abstract: The question about man - his origin, nature, vocation and future - is one of the most urgent questions of the presence, in terms of outlook. Christianity recalls that separation of anthropology from theology inevitably results in an ideology that paradoxically deifies and degrades man, at the same time questioning the fundamental values which protect him. The ethical chaos of post-modernity, being the result of moving away from God, has its particularly dramatic consequences visible in the area of human sexuality and family life. In these spheres, undermining the truth of the Creation of man, and refusing the dependence of Creation on God, lead to family destruction and directly harms human life. Finally, by recalling the fate of the evangelical Prodigal Son, J. Ratzinger/Benedict XVI proves everything that seems to be a deserved vastness of freedom for human pride may only lead - in sinful usurpation - to the extreme debasement of man.
