Abstract: Reverend Emil Szramek, PhD (1887–1942), parish priest of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary church in Katowice in 1926–1940, is one of the best known Catholic priests working in Upper Silesia in the first half of the 20th century. His fate during World War II was tragic. In 1940 he was arrested by the Gestapo and in 1942 died in Dachau Concentration Camp. The article presents the so far unpublished documents concerning the life of the parish priest from Katowice in 1939–1942 which are stored in the fonds of the State Archives in Katowice.
