Abstract

The Roman Catholic Church has been an organiser not only of a spiritual life of the society but also has animated the cultural life and education of Polish society. This thesis is the leading one in the article which attempts to demonstrate it through the educational activities of the Church in Cieszyn Silesia on the turn of 18th and 19th century. The article presents the school activities of monastery congregations and cultural and patriotic activities of religious societies and priests: praiseworthy activists and representatives of Cieszyn region.
