| Abstrakt: | The article analyses the question of the political affi liation of Pokuttya (Pokuttia), a disputed territory between Poland and Moldova, in the 15th and 16th centuries. The endeavours by Polish monarchs Jan Olbracht, Aleksander Jagiellończyk and Zygmunt I Stary, as well as by the Moldovan hospodars Stefan cel Mare and Bohdan III to fi nd a solution are discussed (both of a military and peaceful nature). The impact of the Pokuttya question on Polish domestic and foreign policy (relations with Hungary, Turkey and Wallachia) is discussed as well. |
