| Abstrakt: | Pompa funebris or an expanded Catholic funerary ceremonial is a distinctive feature of Sarmatian culture in the 17th and 18th centuries. While in Italy, France, or Spain the lavish funerals were prerogative only of blood princes and high court officials, in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth they were popular even in the circle of middle-class nobility.
