dc.description.abstract | Undoubtedly, the most spectacular archeological site in Roman Britain is Vindolanda. It is a Roman fort located in the north of today’s England, almost on the Scottish border. A number of interesting monuments were discovered there. Particularly important are extremely thin and fragile pieces of wood, covered with ink writing. They create a specific archive, which consists of letters, orders, reports as well as various requirements and bills. These special types of sources are extremely important from the point of view of research on the functioning of the Roman fort at the turn of the first and second centuries AD and everyday life going on there. The excavation complex in Vindoland and the museum are also a very interesting tourist site. | pl_PL |
