Abstract

Economic inequalities belong to important research categories both in political science and economy. Income stratification alone can be a factor that hinders the attainment of the generally accepted social order. Therefore in democracy, states and political system institutions endeavor to maintain income inequalities at a socially accepted level. The following article presents fundamental theories concerning the development of economic inequalities and indicates their major determinants. The first is the rules of democracy, including the evolving functions of a national state. Another aspect of the analysis was the impact of economic crises. The last question raised in the article concerns globalization processes.
