Aleksander Mardkowicz jako kolekcjoner i popularyzator folkloru karaimskiego

Abstract

Aleksander Mardkowicz (1875–1944) was an important figure in the Lutsk Karaim community, known for his active publishing and literary work. It is also worth recalling, however, that he was not only a poet, writer, journalist and publisher, but also a collector and promoter of Karaim folklore. Thanks to his tireless passion for compiling proverbs and sayings from previous generations, he played a vital role in saving this rich culture from oblivion.
