dc.description.abstract | Luxorius, known as „Carthaginian Martialis” lived in 6th century AD in Carthage at the end of the Vandal rule.
Among his epigrams preserved in Anthologia Latina there were several dedicated venationes. This particular way of arena hunting had already been a subject of Martialis’ epigrams found in the Liber spectaculorum collection. Hunting for wild and exotic animals was next to gladiator skirmishes and spectacular naumachia one of the favourite ancient pastimes that the arena could provide. | pl_PL |
