"Solus christianus poeta" w ujęciu Macieja Kazimierza Sarbiewskiego a Platońska krytyka poezji

Abstract

The aim of the article is to show how Sarbiewski’s opinion that it is only a Christian that can be a real poet could be influenced by Plato’s criticism of poetry. Plato claims that poetry does not describe the reality, but its appearances, among others. Sarbiewski, on the other hand, thinks that a poet’s creative act derives possibilities sticking in things and updates them in the matter of the word. The condition of a real poetry is, thus, knowledge on the reality.
