Dwory i otoczenie Piastów świdnicko-jaworskich (1278-1368)

Abstract

The main subject of the dissertation is the people surrounding the Świdnica-Jawor Piasts, one of the lines of the Silesian dukes ruling in the 13th and 14th centuries. The work consists of seven chapters. The first chapter presents the territorial range of the Świdnica-Jawor Duchy in 1278-1368. The second chapter provides an insight into the history and competencies of the court offices. In addition, the chapter incorporates an explanation of the functioning of Capella at the ducal court. Similarly, the next chapter characterizes the offices of territorial administration, the governance of which is considered to qualify for the ducal entourage. In the following four chapters, the author reconstructed each of the Świdnica-Jawor dukes' entourage and the court personnel. The Biographies part consists of short biographies of people who belonged to the court and dukes' entourage. The last part of the work provides an analysis of the ethnic origins of the people serving the dukes of Świdnica and Jawor, as well as a description of the culture and customs existing at the ducal courts.
