Abstract

Elżbieta Zubrzycka is the author (and translator) of a book collection Bezpieczne Dziecko (Safe Child) on difficult lives of children, in twelve volumes: Śmierdzący ser (translation of Blue cheese Breath and Stinky Feet: How to Deal with Bullies by Catherine DePino), Czy mogę pogłaskać psa?, Słup Soli, Czas niepewności (translation of Maybe Days: A Book for Children in Foster Care by Jennifer Wilgocki and Marcia Kohn Wright), Dobre i złe sekrety, Jak przechodzić przez ulicę?, Jak pomyślę, tak zrobię, Powiedz komuś!, Tajemnica Michasia, Nie lubię łaskotek! (translation of Uncle Willy’s Tickles: A Child’s Right to Say No by Marcie Aboff) and Po co się złościć? The series was published in 2004—2009. Each book regards separate subject matter, e.g. violence in school, fear of losing control over one’s body, or lack of ability in dealing with anger. All volumes contain didactic comments directed to adults and proposals of games consolidating conveyed knowledge. The collection is excellent proposition for children and adults because in an accessible way it describes difficult situations and gives advice on how to effectively solve problems of the youngest.
