dc.description.abstractReading by children and young people, in its quantitative and qualitative dimension, constituted the subject of interest of researchers investigating reading from the very beginning of its development as an academic field. The reason why this social group is treated in a special way, both psychologically and pedagogically, derives from the contexts of children’s reading which manifests itself through functions of the literature for a young reader; cognitive and aesthetic ones, priority being given to educational and valuing functions. A change of the culture model in Poland after 1989 made it is difficult to write about axiological issues concerning texts of the literature for non-adults at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries because of the lack of a coherent and commonly accepted system of values. Trends of liberalism, postmodernism and anti-pedagogy also left their mark on a contemporary face of literature for a young reader. Treating a literary text as a culture text, a source being a message in a social communication, one should ask a question on the contribution of the literature in transmitting the so called toxic information constituting one of the biggest information problems of modernity. From this perspective new conceptions of the literature aspiring to be called a popular- academic one; instrumental-technical texts of the so called therapeutic fairy-tales, as well as contemporary fable adaptations (anti-fables).pl_PL
