Przemiany współczesnej polszczyzny w mediach elektronicznych : internacjonalizacja znaczeń polskich wyrazów (na przykładzie tekstów zaczerpniętych z sieci Internet)

Abstract

The first part of the article concentrates on the attempt to describe the term “electronic media”. The very term is used differently by different researchers working on the language of the Internet, radio and television. Here, the term is used as synonymous to the so called new media, namely, connected to widely-understood computers and Internet. The main aim of the article is to present selected examples of internationalization, and, at the same time, meaning extension of Polish words. The basis of the research constitutes texts produced by the so called average Internet users (in contrast to editors and journalist writing professionally). The phenomenon of word internationalization, that used to be marginal, is becoming more and more visible in Polish: many words are used in new meanings or collocations.
