Statek odmieńców, czyli o marynarskiej fantazji Witolda Gombrowicza

Abstract

The article constitutes an interpretation of Witold Gombrowicz’s story Zdarzenia na brygu Banbury where he concentrated on the analysis of the phenomenon of a severe homosexual panic as regards the main character of F. Zantman’s story. A psychoanalytic analysis of the symbolism of the work in question proves that Zantman’s panic reaction is caused by the activation of a child anal eroticism distracting a stable sense of masculinity and maturity of the main protagonist. Gombrowicz’s work shows a crisis of the definition of homo – and heterosexuality typical of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries that appeared in relation to the differentiation of a modern discourse on sex and sexual identity
