| Abstract: | The present paper is devoted to criticism of Mill’s liberal conception of liberty which was made by a defender of an older English Liberalism, namely James Fitzjames Stephen. It emphasizes the opposite premise of liberal’s and conservative’s anthropology. The author tries to answer the question whether nineteenth- century liberalism is still relevant today. |
