Doświadczone - powtórzone: strategie reprezentacji świata w wybranych dramatach Artura Pałygi i Zyty Rudzkiej

Abstract

The presentation of the past is an essential compositional motif in the newest Polish dramatic works. Past events, reiterated with focus on the act of creation of particular scenes, turn into very realistic ones in certain dramatic works; they provoke fear in the recipient, they project intense feeling of participation as well as emotional ties with the dramatis personae. The article focuses on two dramatic works, both inspired by petty facts derived from their authors’ biographies. Zyta Rudzka is the author of Broken, Tied with a Thread (Pęknięta, obwiązana nitką) where she refers to a story of her aunt with a scar on her face. Artur Pałyga’s Endless Story (Nieskończona historia) is a result of his observations of events which took place in his neighbor’s flat. Both texts represent experience in its affective way; the one that is the result of collecting observations, which inspired both authors to create ostentatiously literary, hybrid, and autoreferential texts. Depicting many different events as well as protagonists’ emotions is suggestive of varied ways of looking at certain experiences existential in nature, determined by loss or death of a close person. The polyphonic composition of both texts evokes reflections upon the multifariousness of the protagonists’ experiences. Simultaneously, the reader is informed about the dynamic and dramatic character of all projects on identity.
